nice weekend
first, i'm going to get this out of the way - man it was hot!
ok, so robin spent the weekend trying to get ready for her trip with cali to madison west (portland) to visit friends. saturday, we hung out, watched the tour (buzzkill - someone needs to attack if i'm going to devote saturday morning to it) and then ran some errands including some road bike shopping for robin. i made it out for a nice 7 mile run and then our babysitter arrived - so we could have a date night. great dinner at graze and then terrible bosses which was pretty funny.
sunday, robin met her parents in beaver dam for breakfast which gave me a window of opportunity to launch my training camp early. i got out on some of my favorite roads (zwettler, pinnacle, blue mounds, ryan, and jg back into mount horeb. it was great to get back on the rocket after a hiatus during the time robin was using it. 65 miles and 6000 feet of climbing in 3.5 hours (including a stop at quick trip to reload my bottles). this ride gave me a little more confidence in my fitness - i'm not fast (yet) but my fitness is pretty good. and, i weathered the heat pretty well. i've said it before, but it is amazing how much fun running/riding is when you feel good and you can breath - i guess my allergy/asthma treatment regime is not a bad thing after all.
i drove into work this morning and will try to run tonight (we'll see). i hope to get some riding in tomorrow, run before golf on wednesday (96 degrees is the forecast) and then some mtb on thursday. rest friday and then the blue mounds classic on saturday to get a little racing in the legs before the 24 hour race. yikes!
happy monday.
