firearms

one of the democrats that voted to retain the veto for concealed and carry has been recieving death threats. now, doesn't that say a little something about the type of person who thinks they need to carry a concealed weapon? keep you guns at home, bone heads. you'll shoot your eye out.

speaking of guns, while riding on the military ridge trail last night i came across a guy in full camo carrying a shotgun. just walking along the trail. just outside of verona. i had to pinch myself and calm my breathing...i thought i was still in marshfield! but seriously, what could he be hunting. all i see along the trail ever is rabbits. i guess...there is nothing like a good rabbit stew.

the ride was good. the dirt was really soft, but an hour and 40 minutes later i felt great. plus, i bombed the cart path home again, always good for a perma-grin.

thursday and it feels like friday. i think that is a bad thing...because tomorrow it'll feel like i'm working on saturday. and we can't have that.

Actually, studies have shown that cities/municipalities/States with concealed weapon laws have significantly LOWERED the amount of crime in the area. Someone who wants to rob a store will think twice if the person on the other side is packing too. Knee jerk reaction is to assume everyone is giong to be walking around like the old West, but that's not the case. If you're worried about a wierdo with a gun, the wierdo's are already walking around with a gun. A lot of crime could be avoided it the law abiding people aren't helpless.

i deleted my own comment. damn. and it was a good one. i'll try again.

who authored the studies showing a reduction in crime?

and, when there is hardly any crime to begin with, isn't the argument of crime prevention moot? i mean, this is wisconsin.
if you think carrying a weapon is a matter of freedom, cool..i buy that arguement (i disagree, but i buy it). but don't hide behind crime in these here parts...

i mean seriously...when have you encountered a situation requiring a firearm?

all i'm saying is, we don't fight drunk driving by drinking and getting behind the wheel ourselves. and, in my opinion (which on this site is the only one that counts)this is kind of what we're talking about.

and, just so you know, the only knee jerking i do is on the bike. so spare me the "knee jerk" implications.

i think people carrying guns that i don't know about infringes on my freedoms...and isn't that what we're talking about here?
