final countdown to a new beginning

so, for better or worse i'm looking at this weekend as the last in the life mode we have come to be comfortable with. my sister is watching calvin and robin and i are heading to east troy for some cx action. i'm planning on jumping in the ss and 35+ but if it is terribly wet/muddy i'll opt out of the latter. i just can't go through cleaning/restoring 2 bikes again like i did following lake geneva. i'm down to clincher rear wheels on both bikes after my series of rear tubular issues. no worries there, the front is where one gets the most benefit from the lower pressures and i have been riding clincher rears for most everything this year (practices and races).

i feel like i should be nervous or excited or something about having a newborn in the house. and yet, to quote semisonic, i'm just feeling strangely fine. we've done everything we can do to get ready. and now it is just waiting for the inevitable yet un-named hurricane to temporarily disrupt our calm (and redefine the family shoreline in the process). that might be a really good or really bad analogy.

happy friday.
